The questions asked most often about Investment Portfolio Manager, answered.

Does it connect to live market prices? No. Prices and FX rates are entered or imported from files. A missing price is shown as "not valued", never zero.

Can I edit a confirmed transaction? No. Reverse it (with a reason) and record the correct one; both stay on record.

Why was a sale refused? Confirmation checks the whole history: it refuses a sale that oversells now or makes a later sale oversell, and a purchase the cash cannot fund. Short positions, margin and borrowing are not supported.

Does a deposit count as profit? No. Performance uses Modified Dietz, which treats deposits and withdrawals as flows, not return.

Which cost method? Moving weighted average. FIFO is not implemented.

Is it an accounting or tax system? No. The separate Investment Accounting Bridge produces draft journal entries under a policy your accountant approves.
